Before choosing a model, there's one important thing to check: does your kitchen have an external ventilation outlet or not?
If it does, the extractor hood removes air, smoke and cooking smells and vents them outside the property. If there is no external outlet, the hood works in recirculation mode: the air passes through activated carbon filters, which help remove cooking smells, and is then released back into the kitchen.
Most modern models can be installed in either way, so not having an external outlet doesn't necessarily mean having fewer options. Carbon filters are consumables and need to be replaced periodically. At our store, we can tell you which filter your hood needs and help you find the right replacement.
Another important point is the size. As a general rule, the extractor hood should be the same width as the hob or wider, never narrower. If you're renovating your kitchen, it's also a good idea to choose the extractor hood together with the hob and oven, so everything works well together and looks properly integrated.
